I used to rebuild deutz engines very very well designed easy to work on engines.
Deutz air cooled diesel engine problems.

But they do have gearbox issues and getting parts can be a pain.

They have individual cylinders and heads so if something goes wrong with one you dont have to pull all the heads.
2 the engine is producing more power than design.

There are several limits set in the injection pump.
Overheating isnt a problem either as long as you have airflow the cylinders will score before the heads have a problem.
I have a lincoln commander 500 with a deutz diesel model f3l912 that will start just fine and run for 20 seconds then shut itself off.
